Grilling and Cooking – The Broke Dad Way

Cooking is something I learned to love as I helped my mom in the kitchen as a kid. Then I lost touch with my love for cooking for many years as I was busy traveling the world while I served my country. Jump ahead many years and I found myself having to get back in touch with cooking as a necessity as I no longer could afford to go out and eat like I had grown used to in my early and mid twenties. I wanted my children to have good food but in order to provide that for them I had to learn to make it myself.

Grilling was an easy jump over from cooking for me as it let me be outside while I made dinner and everything just tastes better on the grill. Along with having to prepare my own meals in order to save money I also took up camping which was a nice inexpensive way for the kids and I to enjoy the outdoors and have vacations. While learning to cook while camping gave me a new challenge to explore and opened my eyes to the wonders of cast iron and cooking over an open fire.

I am hoping over time I will be able to share what I have learned with whoever chooses to come visit my site. I created this page on my blog to make it easier for me to organize all of my posts and stories that have to do with cooking, grilling, cast iron, and recipes I have picked up over the years.

Here are a few of my posts below:
